Our 2022 General Election Endorsements

Every year, AFT Washington makes endorsements in primary and general elections. We base the endorsement on a combination of factors. FIrst, candidates must request endorsement from us. Second, we review their legislative scorecard. If they voted in line with our legislative priorities (usually at 100%; occasionally we will remove a contentious or difficult bill, so you may see a lower percentage), we will give them an automatic endorsement. If they do not receive an automatic endorsement, we send them a questionnaire that our COPE committee evaluates, and conduct an interview.

These are our current endorsements for the 2022 General Election. Any candidate who filled out questionnaire has their questionnaire linked (just click on their name). Any candidate who got an endorsement on the strength of voting for our priorities has their legislative record score listed.

If you have any questions, please contact Anna-Marie Magdalena, State Affiliate Political Organizer, at amagdalena@aftwa.org.

2020 Candidate Questionnaire

AFT Washington provides an endorsement questionnaire for candidates seeking our support. This edition is newly updated for 2020, with questions relevant to the interests of our members. We represent about 6,500 education professionals working in community and tedhnical colleges, regional universities, early learning, and K-12, in all aspects of education. Our members' interests skew, naturally, to education topics, but also to union and justice topics as well.
