From the President 

Hello AFT Washington Leaders! I am still feeling the energizing effects of our convention as we make our way through June and I know you are all busy wrapping up the school year, holding your officer elections and bargaining contracts – there’s a lot going on!

June is also Pride Month and the value of elevating that is increasingly crucial as we see the array of efforts to squelch the rights and freedoms of people who identify as LGBTQIA+. We also celebrate Juneteenth and Gun Safety Awareness month in June.

Adjunct Unemployment Workshops

Monday, June 16th, 2:00 PM or Tuesday, June 24th, 3:00 - 4:30 PM

AFT Washington and WEA have helped hundreds of adjuncts successfully apply for unemployment benefits over more than a decade.

This workshop is intended for seasoned and new applicants alike.  The aim is to increase your chances of getting your unemployment claim as adjuncts resolved quickly, decreasing the potential of accidentally triggering delays that could delay payments by months.

Attending a live workshop is important, so we can answer questions live! We do not record sessions, but we

Celebrate Pride!

In June, we celebrate Pride month to acknowledge all people identifying as LGBTQIA+ and in solidarity for full liberation and against injustice and oppression. While this work is a year-round endeavor, Pride month offers the opportunity to consider more deeply the struggle that remains, assess our individual and collective commitment to continuing in the struggle, and appreciate the contributions and sacrifices made by members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies.

Pride began as the celebration of the Stonewall Riots which occurred at the Stonewall Inn
